Zona Zachry Redd

Mrs. Zona Zachry Redd, age 86, of Blairsville passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee. Mrs. Redd was born August 25, 1923 in Meridian, Mississippi the daughter of the late Clarence Wesley Zachry, Sr. and the late Maggie Belle Rogers Zachry. She had been a Blairsville resident for the past 12 years. Prior to this, she lived in Albany, Georgia and Atlanta, Georgia. She loved her Lord and Savior above all else. In true southern tradition, she loved and enjoyed her family and friends, always displaying honesty and compassion. Her hobbies were bible study, geneology and cooking. Zona was a member of the Blairsville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Edwin Redd and brother, Clarence Wesley Zachry, Jr.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Rick and Yvonne Redd of Blairsville.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Monday from 12 until 1 PM. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd., Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345 or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
