Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces services for Mrs. Zelpha Moss, age 91, of Hayesville, North Carolina, who passed away Monday evening in Clay County Care Center in Hayesville.
Mrs. Moss was born in Young Harris, Georgia, on January 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Ezekiel Gribble and Cora Neal Gribble. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word. A woman of virtue who embodied the scripture writings of Proverbs 31. A Deacon's wife with a servant's heart and a love for the Lord, she would strive to make anyone and everyone feel welcome in her home. Every Sunday, she would lovingly prepare a meal and at each of these gatherings there would be standing room only. Zelpha would take care of the kids first and made sure each new that they were her favorite. She enjoyed the beauty in life whether flowers or gospel music. A pioneer style woman, she made dresses and other garments using an old pedal sewing machine. Zelpha was a member of Bell Scene Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Carl Moss; son, Kenneth Moss; daughter & son-in-law, Cathaleen & Walter Martin and sisters, Kate Moss and Opal Henson.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: son & daughter-in-law, Guy & Evelyn Moss; son & daughter-in-law, Kyle & Kathy Moss; daughter, Kay Long; son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Linda Moss; daughter & son-in-law, Karen & Larry Swanson; daughter-in-law, Rosie Moss; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Surely, her legacy and the values she held will last forever!
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2013 from Bell Scene Baptist Church (Upper Bell Creek) with Rev. Gary Moss and Rev. Robbie Moss officiating. Mrs. Moss will lie instate at the church starting at 1:30 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Upper Bell Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Moss's Grandson's will have the honor of serving as pallbearers. Special music will be presented by the Eagle Mountain Quartet, Linda Moss and Mitch Martin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
