Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Yvonne C. Whitcombe Resler, age 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Blairsville.
Yvonne was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, on August 27, 1929, a daughter of the late Cecil Whitcombe (Brigadier General Ret.) and the late Evelyn Poulson Whitcombe. Yvonne had lived in many places during her lifetime: South Bend, Indiana, Marina Del Rey, California, and Reston, Virginia. She was a graduate of LaSalle College in Boston, Massachusetts, and attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. A very physically active woman, Yvonne was a swimmer, a golfer, and tennis player. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing bridge, and was a gourmet cook.
Yvonne will be tenderly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family: daughter, Peggy Davis, of Madison, Georgia, and Blairsville, Georgia; and son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Matthew L. and Brenda Davis, of Ft. Myers, Florida and Islamorada, Florida; grandson, Cameron Davis and granddaughter, Laura Davis.
