The Cochran Funeral Home Blairsville announces the death of Wilonell Collins Dyer, age 101, of Blairsville, who passed away on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020.
Mrs. Dyer was born on October 11, 1919 in Union County's Choestoe area. She celebrated her 101st birthday this year and Commissioner Lamar Paris proclaimed October 11th, 2020 as "Wilonell Dyer Day".
She married Ervin Dyer and they raised 4 children. Mrs. Wilonell had a long career as an educator for over 30 years, retiring from Union County School System in 1982. She was a member at Choestoe Baptist Church and served as secretary for multiple years.
Mrs. Wilonell was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; a son, Larry E. Dyer; a son-in-law, Sam James; and a sister, Marie Knight.
She is survived by her brother, Clyde Collins, Sr. (Sue); a son, Jerry Dyer (Joyce), a daughter-in-law, Rehnee; and daughters, Judy Bardenwerper (Tom); Janie James(Sam); 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Dick Stillwell and Rev. John Thompson officiating. The following gentlemen are requested to serve as pallbearers: Carlton Collins, Jeff Knight, Bill Collins, Lee Knight, Arnold Dyer, and Tom Bardenwerper.
