Wilma (Billie) Ann Leatherwood

Wilma Ann (Billie) Moore Leatherwood, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22nd. Wilma is survived by her husband Bob Leatherwood, both lifelong residents of the Peachtree community in Murphy. Bob and Wilma were married for 63 years and enjoyed gardening and spending time with their large family together. She was as vibrant as the azaleas, honeysuckle, and rhododendron growing plentifully in her yard.
Wilma retired from Cherokee County Schools where she worked as a teacher's assistant at Peachtree Elementary for 25 years.
She was a member of Upper Peachtree Baptist Church, she enjoyed church activities, completing word puzzles, and cooking.
Wilma was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Leatherwood; mother, Pearl Moore, and father, Richard Marson Moore; brothers R.M., Ferd, Wayne, and Luke Moore all of Peachtree; sisters Grace Galloway and Allie Christopher of Epworth, and sister Frances Gulley of Peachtree.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Jeffrey(Wanda) Leatherwood and Brian (Wendy) Leatherwood of Murphy, Michelle (David) Leatherwood Frum of Belmont, NC, and daughter-in-law Susan Leatherwood of Peachtree; her grandchildren Amber (Jesse) Leatherwood Mayo of Ellijay, GA; Bethany (Austin) Leatherwood Wyatt of Mars Hill, NC; Whitney (Jeromy) Leatherwood Wilkie of Ball Ground, GA; Amy (Stephen) Leatherwood Tart of Warsaw, NC , Emma Leatherwood of Orlando, FL, Anna Leatherwood of Peachtree, Erick Frum of Belmont, NC, and great-grandchild Hudson Wyatt of Mars Hill, NC; and sisters Inez(Tom) Picklesimer of Peachtree and Vallie Houston of Epworth, GA and sister-in-law Parris Moore as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy with the Rev. Harold Stiles, Rev. Chester Jones, and Rev. Derek Tilley officiating. Music provided by Lonnie Mintz, Carol Hogsed, Jan Yonce, and Linda Scalzo. Interment will follow in Peachtree Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers: Austin Wyatt, Stephen Tart, Buster Leatherwood, Greg Moore, Steve Christopher, and Jeromy Wilkie.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 12:00- 3:00 p.m.
