Rev. William Wayland Lovine, age 69 of Blue Ridge, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018. Born May 30, 1948, in Blue Ridge to the late William Wade Lovine and Ruby Leona (Poteet) Lovine.
Family and friends knew Rev. Lovine as Wayland. Wayland grew up and received his formal education at Blue Ridge. After graduation, he joined the USAF, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and served in the Air Force from 1967 to 1973. In his professional career, he was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician and was also employed as a Tool & Die Machinist.
Wayland was ordained as a Deacon of Star Creek Baptist Church in 1984 and responded to God's call to Christian Ministry as Pastor of Star Creek Baptist Church for a period of 24 years. Wayland was a kind and humble person and was proud to be Pastor of the church he served.
Wayland was preceded in death by his father and mother William Wade and Ruby Leona (Poteet) Lovine, and his fiancé Regina L. Hilton.
Survivors include a brother, James Edward (Margaret) McClain of Adairsville, sisters, Bonnie (Clarence) Mann of Jonesboro, and Nicki (Bobby) Tipton of Blue Ridge. Survivors also include nieces, nephews, close friend Doris Dilbeck, and a host of other relatives and longtime friends.
Funeral services Friday, February 2, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Ritter and Rev. David Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memory Gardens. The gentlemen serving as Pallbearers will be James Tipton, Rickie Young, John Alewel, Corey Whitaker, Jason Tanner and Ricky Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Thomas and Jimmy Holloway.
The North Georgia Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Friday, February 2, 2018, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
