Mr. William "Rick" Otis Harper, Jr., age 59 of Mineral Bluff, passed away June 18, 2015 at his home. Rick was born March 21, 1956 in McCaysville, GA to the late William Otis and Lelia Marlene Harper. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. Rick worked as an automotive mechanic and eventually owned his own business. He started out working on motorcycles and cars when he was 13 years old. He was a loving father, grandfather and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include loving wife, Dana Suit Harper, daughter, Brittany (Jonathan) Newton, daughter, Brandi Harper, twin grandchildren, Henry and Harper Newton and several aunts, uncles and cousins..
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Padgett officiating. Music provided by the Caylor Family Singers. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Pelfrey, Ethan Henson, Rex Henry, Chris Padgett, Eric Padgett, Andy Padgett and Kyle Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Pelfrey, Lanny Henson, Richard Hamby, Gary Harper, Mike Henson and Tim Harper.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Flowers will be accepted or you may make a donation in Rick's memory to the ALS Association at www.alsa.org, or The ALS Association Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
