William Joseph Carter

March 17, 1942 — April 21, 2016

William Joseph Carter, age 74 of Whittier, North Carolina who passed away April 20, 2016 in North Carolina. Mr.Carter was born March 17, 1942 in Copperhill, TN to the late Robert Young Carter and the late Ruth Elizabeth Hughes Carter. Mr.Carter retired from the U.S.Air Force after 20 years of service and enjoyed making jewelry and cutting stones. He was preceded in death by his brothers Don Carter and Rickey Carter and his brother-in-law Ron Henry.

Survivors include: Sons Steven Young (Maria) Carter and William Brian (Janet) Carter, daughter Tammy (Scott) Beck, the mother of his children Linda Rose Carter, special friend Martha Allen, sister Loretta Henry, sisters-in-law Gelita Carter and Brenda Carter, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 2 pm from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Ware officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard at Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, GA. on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

Special thanks to all the personnel of the Charles George VA Hospice Unit for their wonderful care. Arrangements entrusted to the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charles George VA Hospice facility or to your local hospice.
