Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mr. William Joe Gray, age 76, of Blairsville, who passed away on Friday, July 9th, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Gray was born in Blairsville, a son of the late William Fred Gray and the late Etta Chastain Gray. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Young Harris, and served for over 25 years on the Union General Hospital Board.
Mr. Gray will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and especially by his loving family members: his wife of 55 years, Julia Conley Gray; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Lisa Gray; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Pam Gray; sister, Susie Kelly; grandchildren: Will Gray (Matraca), Lauren Duncan (Justin), Brooke Bridges (Josh), Lydia Leak (John), LeAnna Gray, and Landen Gray; great grandchildren: Dixie Gray, Waylon Gray, Harlan Duncan, Jackson Duncan, and Ella Bridges; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday, July 11th, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., to be held at First Baptist Church of Young Harris, with Rev. Jason Derreberry officiating. Special music will be by Larry and Gail Lee. Burial will be in Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Harold Underwood officiating. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Mike Adams, Junior Puett, Bruce Gray, Larry Lee, Jeff Kelley, and Shannon Kelley. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Saturday, July 10th, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
