William Jesse (W. J.) Lanier, 73, of Lawrenceville, Ga, passed away on June 13, 2015 at East Side Medical Center in Snellville, Ga. from complications of pneumonia. He was born in Hawkinsville, Ga. and is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Beatrice Lanier, and brother Bobby Bozeman. He met his wife, Frances Collis, at Fulton National Bank in Atlanta, and they were married July 28, 1962. He was a loving husband, dad and granddad. He loved reading his Bible and listening to his Johnny Cash music.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Lanier, daughter and son-in-law Julie and Terry Smith, daughter and son-in-law Amy and Mike Dorolek, grandchildren Garrett, Lanie and Brady Smith, and Abby and Josie Dorolek. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
The following have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Terry Smith, Garrett Smith, Mike Dorolek, David Land, Jeremy Collis and Kevin Collis. The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home, Blue Ridge, Ga., Friday, June 19th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Service to follow on Saturday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home with Danny Collis conducting the service. Burial will be in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
