Mr. William Jasper Reece, age 77, of Cherokee Co., passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at Elaine's Care Home in Andrews, NC. Mr. Reece was born February 17, 1941, in Murphy, NC to the late Rufus R. Reece and the late Pauline Sharp Reece. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Messiah. Mr. Reece was the third generation to own and operate Reece Plumbing and served as a commercial plumber, he owned and operated a laundry mat, and was a jewelry maker. He also was a winemaker for Valley River Vineyards. He loved Mother Nature, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed panning for gold, hunting for gems, and traveling. In addition to his mother and father, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Martin Stalcup Reece, and sister, Linda Reece Poole.
Survivors include daughter, Leslie Moreen Reece Dobbs, son, William Martin (Maria) Reece, daughter, Rosaland Elaine (Reece) Dockery, grandson, Randall Keith Dockery, grandson, William Kevin Dockery, grandson, Bradley Martin Dobbs, grandson, Christopher Tyler Simonds, granddaughter, Haley Nicole Simonds, great-granddaughter, Kensley Faith Dockery, and sister, Shelby Reece (Ray) Fisher.
Funeral services: Thursday, September 6, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Episcopal Church of the Messiah with Dr. Maggie Rourk officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Murphy.
There will be a casual gathering of family and friends at Valley River Vineyards following funeral services on Thursday.
The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home in Murphy Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
