William Howard "W.H." McCarter

Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. William Howard “W.H.” McCarter age 77 of Blairsville, who passed away on Tuesday September 1st, 2020 at Northeast GA Medical Center in Gainesville.

Mr. McCarter was born in Blairsville on February 23rd, 1943 to his late parents William Howard and Pauline (Young) McCarter, Sr. W.H. served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member and deacon of Liberty Baptist Church. W.H. was a church-going man who loved the Lord. He also loved horses and fishing, but loved his family most of all. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jim McCarter.

W.H. is survived by his wife of 53 years, Myrta McCarter; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff (Rhonda) McCarter, Bill (Suzanne) McCarter; grandchildren, Brady, Bryce, and Kait McCarter and Madison (Will) London; siblings, Dora (Reid) Colwell, Paula Davenport, and Johnny (Connie) McCarter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday September 5th, 2020 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Music and singing will be by Gloria Griggs. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Joe Colwell, Daniel Davenport, Jay McCarter, Jason McCarter, Brady McCarter, and Bryce McCarter all serving as pallbearers. Military Honors will be presented by the North GA Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 5pm and 8pm on Friday September 4th at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the family kindly requests that visitors please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of W.H.
