William Carl Kautz, Jr., age 75 of Hiawassee, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home. Mr. Kautz was born March 10, 1939 in Beckley, WV. Bill was a graduate of Georgia Southern College and a veteran of the United States Army. He spent most of his working life as a writer and photographer. Bill had a great appreciation of art and was an avid collector. He had taught classes at the John C. Campbell Folk School and had been a volunteer for both the Clay County Food Bank and the Meals on Wheels program.
Survivors include his sister, Nancy Kautz (Nelson) Hylton of Roanoke, VA, mother, Elsie B. Kautz Brimer of Hiawassee, GA, niece, Louisa K. (Vic) Brancati of Roanoke, VA and great nieces and a great nephew.
No services are planned at this time. Interment will be in Jacksonville, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Clay County Food Bank, P.O. Box 853, Hayesville, NC 28909.
Arrangements entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, GA.
