Wendell Wade Whitley, 84, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home.
Wendell was born November 26, 1940, in Morganton, Georgia, to Wade Whitley and Mary Arlene Harper.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jeffery Whitley while being survived by his children Laura Bishop, Lamar Whitley and daughter-in-law Lisa Whitley.
He proudly served one tour in the United States Air Force. Wendell was an avid outdoorsman but, most importantly, a proud family man. Wendell spent 38 years working at AT&T, earning the nickname "overtime hog," a well-deserved and enjoyed nickname. He earned this nickname over the years because he focused on working to provide for his family while spending as much time as possible with his loved ones.
While working hard was his passion, Wendell's true pride and joy were his grandchildren Ashley, Jessica, Logan and great-grandchildren Jamie, Avery, and Madison. For many years, he was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Snellville, GA, and enjoyed helping others in need. Wendell was a God-fearing patriot and a proud family man. He was indeed a great man and a true role model.
Other survivors include Uncle Randall Collins, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
