W.C. Garrett

The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mr. W.C. Garrett, age 78, of Hiawassee who passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Mr. Garrett was born in Hiawassee on October 25, 1937 to the late Watson and Callie (Ferguson) Garrett. Born and raised on Soapstone Rd. going toward Brasstown Bald. He loved his family deeply. He was an avid hunter and fisher who knew these mountains like the back of his hand. W. C. was active in the Historical Society of Towns County. He spent 30 years in a career as an insurance agent with Life of Georgia Insurance Company. He will be the 5th generation to be buried in Towns County

He will be warmly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of 54 years, Elva Elizabeth Garrett; daughter & son-in-law, Anetra & Larry Jones; sons & daughters-in-law, Timothy & Sarah Garrett, and Rodney & Connie Garrett; and grandchildren, Nole Jones, Holt Jones, Andrew Stephenson, Teresa Roth, Michael Garrett, Mariam Reece, and Moriah Garrett. Also, sharing in his legacy are 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Steven Taylor officiating. Music will be presented by Jeannie Garrett and Nole Jones. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Rodney Garrett, Tim Garrett, Michael Garrett, Andrew Stephenson, Nole Jones, and Hoyt Jones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
