Wanita "Nita" Dooley Coles

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mrs. Wanita "Nita" Dooley Coles, age 92, who died at Lanier Gardens in Athens, GA on February 22,2016.

She and her husband "Rube" grew up in Columbus, Indiana and retired to Hiawassee, GA where they resided for 30 years Nita was a church musician and taught piano in Hiawassee, GA . She loved her Lord, her high school sweetheart, Rube Coles, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all and her legacy of prayer and devotion to Jesus Christ will live on through her family

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert Francis Coles. She was born in New Orleans, LA on February 4,1924, to Henry and Halcie Dooley and is survived by her daughter, Candy Todd of Athens GA. and two sons, Greg and Drew Coles, of Rockledge, FL and Titusville FL, respectively. She also leaves two sisters, Connie Jo Andrews of Rock Hill, SC and Linda Whitmire of Germantown TN. Survivors also include six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Hiawassee with Dr, Jim Whitmire and Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. Music will be provided by Connie Jo Andrews. Pallbearers will include: Wade Whitmire, Ty Jones, Adam Yelton, Jared Yelton, Drew Coles, Jr., Scott Andrews, and Hunter Yelton. Burial will follow at Osborn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the service begins.
