The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Funeral Mass for Mr. Walter Fuller, of Hiawassee, GA, and St. Augustine, FL, who passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was born on February 5, 1930 in Hennef, Germany.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, William and Christina Fusshoeller of Siegburg, Germany; his sisters, Katrin Nieske and Elisabeth Fusshoeller, also of Germany; and a son, Eric, of Hayesville and Clyde, NC. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Marilyn; and daughter, Valerie Fuller, DMD, of Marietta, GA.

Walter was a strong-willed and determined man, and always said that he accomplished everything in life that he wanted: he became a Master Tailor in Germany at a young age, immigrated to America when he was twenty-five, and owned and operated Carolina Dress Corporation in Hayesville, Hiawassee, and Blairsville for over forty years. He also was a skilled glider and airplane pilot, a scratch airplane builder, deep-sea diver, a blue-water sailor, and a Windsor chair maker and instructor.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Blairsville, GA on August 25, 2017, followed by burial at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Hiawassee. Donations in memory of Walter can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 3717 Hwy 515 East, Blairsville, GA 30512.
