Walter F. Nowak
October 2, 1933 — November 3, 2018
Mr. Walter F. Nowak, age 85, of Hiawassee, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Mr. Nowak was born on October 2, 1933 in Lackawanna, NY, to the late Walter Sr. & Bertha Zajac Nowak.
Walter was a loving husband and father. He and wife Barbara Gomez had three Children: Pamela, Scott and Janet. When Walter and wife Carol were married he lovingly took on three stepchildren: Sterling, Richard and Cindy.
Mr. Nowak was a man of many talents and accomplishments. Among some of the greatest, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a successful business owner for twenty-five years, as well as, working for the Broward County Sheriff's Office. As a pilot he loved to fly and as a classic car enthusiast he loved to collect beautiful cars. Walter was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Gem Capital Auto Club. He also enjoyed attending worship at the Hiawassee United Methodist Church.
Walter will be remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family; Children, Pamela Moninghoff (Richard), Scott Nowak and Janet Frengel (Ralph); stepchildren, Sterling Moninghoff (Rebecca) and Cindy French (Todd). Also sharing in his legacy are twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
