Virginia M. Huntley

November 9, 1949 — August 20, 2024

Valdosta, GA

Virginia Marie Waters Huntley, age 74, went to be with Jesus on August 20, 2024 in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Huntley was born in Ellijay, Georgia on November 9, 1949 to William Joseph Waters and Stella Elaine Underwood Waters. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Milt.

Virginia married Milton George Huntley, her high school sweetheart, on December 19, 1969. They were married for nearly 52 years. Virginia supported Milt across the United States and around the world during his 22 years in the United States’ Air Force. During this time, she was a member of the Enlisted Wives’ Club, where she was an active participant in theater, both singing and acting.

Virginia was a 1968 graduate of Brighton High School in Brighton, Michigan. She worked as a Sterile Processing Technician at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia for 19 years.

Virginia had many hobbies. Virginia could be found at nearly any yard/estate sale she passed. She enjoyed going on road trips, swimming, and fishing. She was an avid collector and expert on vintage items and antiques. She enjoyed cooking and baking. One could always find a beautiful cake under a glass dome on her kitchen countertop. She loved flowers, particularly African Violets and Daisies. She enjoyed the companionship of many dogs throughout her life. Her competitive nature showed as she fiercely enjoyed playing board and card games with her family and friends. She was very good at word games like Scrabble, Password, and Words with Friends.

Virginia adored her large, crazy family. There are too many stories to count of the adventures she had with her six siblings–Vivian, Violet, Vernon, Victor, Victoria, and Vanette–and their adoring parents. Her most precious gifts were her two sons–Ian and Brett, her daughters-in-law, and her grandchildren. She was an amazing mom, grandmother, and aunt, always showing love and support for all “her kids.” Love and laughter surrounded Virginia, and she fully embraced it by taking many pictures and displaying them in every available space in her home.

Virginia became a Christian in her twenties. She truly loved the Lord and enjoyed singing classic hymns and gospel songs, which she first learned from her grandmothers–Rady and Kate.

Virginia is survived by her son Ian and daughter-in-law Kim, her son Brett and daughter-in-law April; her grandchildren–Laurel, Edison, Atom, and Strummer; her six siblings, numerous brothers/sister-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
