Virginia D. Cornwell

Virginia Dockery Cornwell, age 79 of Murphy, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Murphy Medical Center. Mrs. Cornwell was born September 8, 1935 in Cherokee County NC, to the late Oscar and Maggie Brown Dockery. She was a member of Little Glade Baptist Church and a homemaker. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Hanging Dog Country Store. Mrs. Cornwell was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Charles Cornwell, a son, Randall Wayne Cornwell, and a sister, JoAnn Hall.

Survivors include: son, Roy N. Cornwell, granddaughter, Heather Hamby and one great granddaughter, sister, Louise McDonald, brothers, Kenneth (Fran) Dockery and Leroy (Margaret) Dockery several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services: Sunday, April 12, at 2:00PM from the Cochran Funeral Home Murphy with
Rev. Eddis Dockery officiating. Music was provided by the Tomotla Quartet. Interment followed in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: David McDonald, Kendric McDonald, Dillon McDonald, Max O"Dell, Tom Coarsey, and J.B. Reeves. Honorary pallbearers: Larry MIntz and Rex Davis.
