Virginia (Jinny) Ann Brown, age 91 of Brasstown died peacefully on September 14, 2017. She was born in Cleveland, OH to Carl and Claribell Meyers. She attended Cleveland School of Art and became a commercial artist working for Sears and other retail stores as an illustrator for newspapers and advertising in Cleveland, Detroit, Stamford Ct., and Richmond VA. She and her husband of 62 years, Ralph J. Brown moved to the Brasstown area over 30 years ago and became involved with the John Campbell Folk School where she mastered and taught enameling and cloisonne. She became a popular contributing artist at the Turning Leaf Gallery in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
She is survived by her son Todd D. Brown of Brasstown, her daughter Gretchen Brown Pratt of Richmond, Virginia, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
When she was not working in her studio Jinny loved to travel, read, and spend time with her friends, family, and her West Highland Terriers.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hayesville, NC, where the Memorial Mass will be held in her memory on October 13, 2017 at 12:00. Father George Kloster will be officiating the Mass.
Jinny was a great animal lover and she surely would appreciate in lieu of flowers, any donations to the local Humane Society as a memorial to her.
