Mr. Virgil Dockery, age 92 of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April, 21, 2011 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was born April 12, 1919, the son of the late Cainey & Hattie Miller Dockery in Brasstown, North Carolina. A life long resident of this area, He was a member of Old Brasstown Baptist Church. Mr. Dockery worked most of his life in the timber business, which he loved. Mr. Dockery was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Verlon, Glenn, Homer, Ed and Elmer Dockery and Sisters, Valerie Rogers, Stella Giles and Ruby Teams.

Mr. Dockery is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Owenby Dockery of Young Harris; Son, Junior Dockery of Young Harris; Son & Daughter-in-Law, James & Tilly Dockery of Morganton, Georgia; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Francis & Harold Henderson of Young Harris; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Jessie & Ricky Davis of Blairsville; 8 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He is further survived by his Sisters, Opal Wooten of Atlanta, Verdie Anderson of Pine Log and Roxie Owenby of Blairsville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2011 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Billy Stiles officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers; Cameron Henderson, Casey Henderson, Cody Henderson, Christopher Dockery, Tommy Dockery and Jamie Dockery. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
