Mrs. Viola "Odie" Vandiver, age 80, of Blairsville, GA passed away December 15, 2009 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Vandiver was born on March 14, 1929 in Blairsville, GA, to Augustus Thomas and Dollie Mae (Stephens) Thomas. Mrs. Vandiver was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Vandiver of Blairsville; brothers: Cicero Thomas and Junior Thomas; sisters: Zelma McClure, Maebell McClure and Norene Stover.
Survivors include: special friend, Robert Green, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Harold Berry of Blairsville; daughter, Bonnie Sue Vandiver of Hayesville, NC; son: James Thomas of Blairsville; brother, Harold Thomas of Blairsville; sisters: Leona Harkins of Dahlonega, Edna Hughes of Blairsville, and Pauline Sosebee of Blairsville; granddaughters: Jamie Payne, Heather Deyton, Tonia Huggins, Diamond Clark, Autumn Clark; grandsons: Joshua Berry, Bo Berry, Casey Shadix and 7 great- grandchildren.
The family will recieve friends at the Cochran Funeral Home Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Chris Rumfelt. Pallbearers will be Shane Payne, Bobby Huggins, Joshua Berry, Bo Berry, Chad Deyton and Casey Shadix. Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.
