Vincent E. Collins

May 11, 1946 — February 13, 2025

Vincent E. Collins, 78, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on February 13, 2025. He was born on May 11, 1946, in Chicago, IL to the late Edward and Ruth Collins. When he was 5 his parents moved to Atlanta, GA. As a young boy, Vince’s vocal talent was discovered. He sang for several years in the Atlanta Boys Choir and after high school, he sang and acted with the Theater Under the Stars.

While working in the furniture and flooring department at RICHS in downtown Atlanta, he developed a keen appreciation for architecture and interior design. His passion and success eventually lead him to open his own flooring store in Stone Mtn, GA followed by a 2nd store in Tucker, GA.

Vince came to faith in Christ around age 30 and joined First Baptist Church of Atlanta. He quickly found use of his singing talents in the choir and became the lead soloist. He played the role of Peter for several years in the Passion Play every spring at the OMNI as well. During this time, he felt called to ministry. He began part time, by traveling with Ambassadors For Christ International as music minister with various evangelists but by 1981, he felt God calling him into full time ministry.

Vince served with Ambassadors For Christ International for more than 20 years as a minister of music/ solo evangelist all across the world sharing the gospel through song. In addition to live ministry, he also recorded several CDs that continue to touch the hearts of many.

He was known for his various talents and interests and his willingness to help and serve others. Vince was a proud supporter of the University of Georgia; he embraced his role as a big UGA fan and a supporter of Donald Trump. But his greatest joy was in his family – he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren! He was fun and fun loving and was beloved and adored for his “Donald duck voice” and his Elmer Fudd impersonations!

He is survived by his children, Courtenay (Gabriel) Carrillo, Christopher (Kristin) Collins, Charles (Leigh) Collins, Carrie (David) Johnson, Caris (Chad) Martin, and Claire Collins & his ex-wife of 38 years Diane Atkins. In addition, he leaves behind 19 grandchildren with 1 due in April and 1 great grandchild with another due in June.

Vince’s kind and generous spirit and his love for Jesus and his family will be celebrated during the memorial service at 2pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA.

The family will receive friends at 1pm before the memorial service on February 16th.

Vince will be remembered for his warmth and his unwavering passion for the things and people he loved. His legacy lives on through the beautiful music he created, his beautiful family and the joyful memories he leaves behind.
