Never a soul loved and invested more time and passion in the welfare of Union County and the lives of its residents than Verlee (Vee) Joyce Laffoon, 87, who went to be with God on January 6th, 2022.
A resident of the Blairsville area since the mid 1980’s, Vee died peacefully in the amazingly attentive care of the Union General Hospital ICU staff, surrounded by her family.
By God’s grace and His blessing, her final days were as she had always hoped they would be, rife with independence, vibrancy and mobility, up to the day she was admitted to the hospital.
Vee was born in Mt. Pleasant, IA in 1934, and lived in many locales throughout the USA during her lifetime, but there’s no place she loved and invested more in than Union County GA.
To the great many from whom she annually and relentlessly urged, exhorted, cajoled and sometimes nagged financial support, she will always be wistfully remembered as the benevolent and altruistic face of The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and its many fund-raisers in Union County.
She is survived by her two Children, Rob Laffoon, DeeDee Siefken and spouse Rick Siefken, her Grandchildren, Alec Laffoon, Cole Laffoon, Shayla Head, Nick Frechette, and 4 Great-Grandchildren, mostly located here in the Blairsville area as well.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations may be made in Vee’s honor to:
