The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces Funeral Services for Troy Lee Murphy, age 72 of Douglasville who passed away at his home on March 17, 2019.
Troy was born in Union County, Georgia on September 20, 1946 to the late Glen and Dorothy Murphy. Known as a loving husband, father, and grandfather- Troy considered himself a rich man because of the family that he was blessed with. Through the health challenges he faced over the years, his faith in Christ grew more. Troy's sense of humor made him friends everywhere he went and was enjoyed by his regular meeting group at the local Waffle House. He had a knack for making people around him to feel needed and comfortable. His quick wit, self invented song lyrics, and easy going demeanor will surely be missed by his family and friends.
Troy enjoyed classic cars and had owned several over the years. The allure of the speed and having met some of his favorite drivers, made him a fan of watching the NASCAR races. He also enjoyed fishing.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Wilcoxon Murphy; daughter & son-in-law, Angela & Rick Redford; son, Douglas Murphy; and siblings, Opal (Don) Cook, Raburn (Joan) Murphy, and Ronny (Liz) Murphy. Also, sharing in his legacy are 4 grandchildren, Devin Harding, Daniel Harding, Sammy Davis, and Brook Murphy Clayborne; 1 great grandchild, Alexis Summer Harding; and numerous nieces and nephews. Troy was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Marvin Murphy.
