Tonya Nicole Wood, age 37 of Mineral Bluff, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at her home. Tonya was born September 2, 1978 in Riverdale, GA to James Wood and Belinda Neal Petty. A member of the Salem #2 Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Grace Adams Wood and James Floyd Wood, Joyce Anne Ellis Miller and James Stewart Neal, uncle, Roy Goode, and her daughter Destiny's father, Phillip Self. Tonya was a graduate from Fannin County High School. She worked many years as an EMT for Fannin County. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, writing, and listening to music and she loved spending time outdoors.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Belinda and John Petty, her father and step-mother, James and Jeanette Wood, daughter, Destiny Nicole Wood, sister, Amanda Wood (Russel Ware), brother, Matthew Wood, sister, Brandie Wood (Keith) Thomas, one granddaughter, Cali Nicole O'Neal, three step-brothers, Jeremy Davenport, Michael Petty, and Jeffrey Petty, and several nieces and nephews, Zachary Plott, Larissa Hughes, Kennedy Lawrence Wood, Bryson Fortenberry, Hannah Fortenberry, Katie Thomas and Collin Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Pittman and Rev. Randy Hooper officiating. Music provided by the Caylor Family Singers. Interment will follow in the Salem #2 Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Richard Goode, Scott Williams, Keith Williams, Zachary Plott, Jeremy Davenport, and Shane Goode. Honorary pallbearers include David Ledford, Duane Clark, Adam Pack, Richard McCaltchy, Bryson Fortenberry, Michael Petty, and Jeffrey Petty.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5-8 pm.
