Tommy Duncan

Tommy Harlan Duncan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of our community passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on December 2, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on April 6, 1942, in Blairsville, Georgia, to the late Harlan Duncan and the late Ruth Jackson Duncan.

Tommy devoted much of his professional life to the service of others as the Sheriff of Union County, a role he embraced with dedication and integrity, following in the footsteps of his father.

He was a member of the Confidence Methodist Church in Blairsville. He had a profound love for the land, finding joy in farming, as well as raising horses and cattle.

Tommy was married to his beloved wife, Connie Nichols Duncan, for over 60 years. Together, they nurtured a warm and loving family, which includes their grandson Justin (Lauren) Duncan, great-grandchildren Harlan and Jackson Duncan, grandson Dakota Knox, and daughter-in-law Brenda Knox. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Cathy (Larry) Bracket, along with a host of friends and family.

Tommy was preceded in death by: his father, Harlan Duncan; mother, Ruth Jackson Duncan; brother, Jack Duncan and beloved son, Ronnie Duncan.

The funeral service for Tommy Harlan Duncan will take place on December 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blairsville Chapel, followed by interment at Union Memory Gardens. 

Visitation will be held on December 5, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blairsville Chapel.

Pallbearers will include Justin Duncan, Michael "Bear" Baxter, Gene Nelson, Mike Cook, Larry Bracket, and Dakota Knox.

In celebrating the life of Tommy Harlan Duncan, we remember a man of principle, love, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
