Tommy Davis

Tommy Joe Davis, 85, of Epworth, Georgia, affectionately known as "Poppy", passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at his home. Tommy was born May 13, 1938, in McCaysville, GA to Harry Barclay and Ruth Davis Johnson. 

Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Davis Johnson; father, Harry Barclay; sister, Jeanette Carpenter; Best Friend, Gene Brackett; and brother-in-law, Daniel Hicks.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rachel Hicks Davis of the home; Daughter, Sheila (Jeff) Taylor of Epworth, Georgia; Grandchildren, Kelleigh Taylor and Josh Taylor of Epworth, Georgia; Brother, Larry (Laquita) Dilbeck of McCaysville; Brothers-in-law, Lloyd Hicks and Grady Hicks; Sister-in-law, Beatrice Hicks and the Hospice "Girls" from Pruitt Health Blue Ridge. 

Tommy loved his family deeply and enjoyed activities that involved his grand kids. He enjoyed listening to country music, particularly George Jones.  He was of the Baptist faith and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Copperhill, Tennessee until his health decline in 2016.

He was an avid NASCAR fan.  Tommy was like a walking calendar that knew all the birthdays and important events of the family.  He retired from the Tennessee Copper Company as an Electric Furnace Operator.

Graveside Service, on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Copper Ridge Cemetery with Rev Joey Buchanan officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, James Hyatt, Cody Hicks, David Bracketts, Luke Dilbeck, Tim Verner, and Josh Taylor. 

Interment will follow at Copper Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Georgia. 

The family will receive friends at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, January, 7th 2024, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
