Tommie W. Alexander, age 83 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at his home. Mr. Alexander was born Thursday, July 23, 1925 in Union County, GA to the late Ed Alexander and the late Hattie Hunter Alexander. He was a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church. Mr. Alexander was a former member of the Union County Lions Club and was instrumental in the formation of the Blairsville-Union Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife owned and operated the Trackrock Campgroung which they opened in 1966. They also operated Trackrock Stables. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Alexander, and brothers, Jimmy and Hoyt Alexander.
Survivors include: wife, Martha Alexander of Blairsville, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Yasha Manzy of Atlanta, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Maddox, son & daughter-in-law, Frank and Debbie Alexander, daughter, Sonya Alexander and sister, Bernice Gibson, all of Blairsville, GA, grandchildren, Isreal Alexander of Franklin, NC, Brad Rich and Christie Rich, both of Blairsville, GA and Minka Alexander of Stillwater, OK. 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives aalso survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Geer officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Claude Duffey. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers are: Eddy Alexander, Tim Cristofaro, Russell Fortenberry, Frank Alexander,Isreal Alexander and Brad Rich.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 PM, Tuesday, September 23.
