Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory announces Memorial Services for Mr. Todd Kimsey, age 93 of Hiawassee.
Todd Kimsey was called Home to spend eternity with our Lord on April 27, 2019. A local native, he was born January 15, 1926. Todd enlisted in our US Navy and served aboard his beloved USS Pasadena, stationed not far from shore at the Battle of Iwo Jima as a fire control man. Leaving the Navy in April of 1946, Todd married his sweetheart, Hellen Herbert, also a local native. They both embarked upon Todd's lifelong love of education becoming teachers in elementary and high school levels, and on to Young Harris College. In spite of his advanced studious intellect and many achievements, Todd was a very humble, humorous, and generous man. He was a wonderful friend and teacher to everyone he met.
Todd leaves behind his wife, Hellen, after 73 years of marriage. They have a daughter, Ann, who gave them two wonderful grandsons, Keith and Kevin Potts. There are four great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Also sharing in his legacy are many friends, loved ones, and former students who are now scattered over America. Todd was a longtime member of our local American Legion Post #23 where he leaves many Veterans who all loved him dearly. He is and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the new Foster Park Recreation & Conference Center, 150 Foster Park Road, Young Harris, GA 30582 Phone: 706-896-2600. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow at Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens with Military Honors presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, Todd and Hellen request that you send donations to American Legion Post #23, 1329 Sunnyside Rd., Hiawassee, GA 30546.
