Thelma Ruth Thomas, age 97 of McDonough, formerly of the Copper Basin area, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Benton Manor. Mrs. Thomas was born April 6, 1920 in Lima, OH to the late William E. Huston and the late Wilmetta Golden Huston. A member of Copperhill First United Methodist Church, Mrs. Thomas taught school for 46 years starting when she was 19 years old. She enjoyed crocheting and reading and studying the Bible. Ms. Thomas had lived in Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, and Germany and at the end she was ready to go home to be with the Lord where she is now. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo E. Thomas.
Survivors include: sons, William Henry Thomas and Stephen Leo (Sharron Boyes) Thomas; grandchildren, Catherine Pelhan, Kevin Byrd, and D. Sean Thomas; great grandchildren, Alan Scott, Christopher Pelham, Katelyn Thomas, Evan Thomas, Will Thomas, and Kyle Byrd.
Funeral services: Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene White officiating.
