Mrs. Thelma Ruth Johnson, age 84 of Morganton, passed away March 17, 2014 at the Heritage Healthcare Nursing Home. Ruth was born November 15, 1929 in Fannin County, GA to the late John Grandville Killian and the late Ruby Bell Higdon Killian. A member of the Toccoa Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by husband, J.P. Carl Johnson, five brothers, Roy Killian, Bill Killian, J.G. Killian, R.G. Killian, and Robert Killian, sister, Frankie Mae Hill, daughter, JoAnn Johnson, son, Robert Lee Johnson, and grandson, Jimmy Wilson.
Survivors include: daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Stephens, daughter, Shirley (Larry) Brown, daughter, Peggy (Jerry) Clore, son, David (Vickie) Johnson, daughter, Betty Jo Whitaker, and daughter, Wendy Gibson, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins officiating. Music provided by the Caylor Family Singers. Interment will follow in the Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jeremiah Clore, Michael Sands, Zach Sands, Dalton Gibson, Dillon Ray and Stevie Brown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
