Thelma Welch Griggs German, age 98, of Blue Ridge, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018. Thelma was born March 11, 1920, in Fannin County, GA to the late William M. Welch and Pearl Patterson Welch. She was a member of Hipps Chapel Church, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Thelma was preceded in death by husbands, Claude Griggs and Rev. Ernest German, brothers, Hoyle Welch, Kenneth "Nig" Welch, Walter "Dutch" Welch, and Tommy Welch, sisters, Billie Gantt and Bernice Goss, granddaughter, Amanda Brooke Lewis, and step-daughter, Shirley Panter,
Survivors include daughters, Lora (Sam) Griggs Lewis, and Claudette Griggs Earley, sister, Dorothy Jean Livingston, step-daughters, Jo Ann Clifford and Barbara Kimsey, grandchildren, Barron (Kim) Earley, Samantha (Titus) Pugh, great-grandchildren, Jamison Earley, Drake Pugh, Shayla Pugh, Toccoa Pugh.
Funeral services: Wednesday, August 8, at 2:00 PM at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Barron Earley, Jamison Earley, Titus Pugh, Drake Pugh, Toccoa Pugh, Scott Burger, Randy Goss, and Johnny Querry. Honorary pallbearers: Greg Panter, Rick Welch, Wes Kimsey, Jack Gantt, Jerry Goss, David Clifford, Pat Sharp, Roger Beaver, and Matt Kimsey.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the Finch Cochran Funeral Home 6-8 PM.
