Terry Lee Watkins

Mr. Terry Lee Watkins, age 62 of the Wolf Creek community in Murphy, NC, went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior, suddenly on Friday morning, October 7, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Terry was born January 28, 1954 in Copperhill, TN to the late Aubrey Watkins and Joy Horton Watkins. He was a lifelong member and Deacon for 42 years at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Wolf Creek. He held several jobs over the years, including TN Chemical Co. for 20 years before it closed. He worked as an EMT for 31 years for several different agencies, but most recently was working for American Medical Response in McMinn County, TN. He was also a volunteer for the Wolf Creek Volunteer Fire Department for the last 32 years, and served as the chief for 17 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar, carving walking sticks, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Carol Cook Watkins, mother, Joy Watkins, son, Darren (Heather) Watkins, son, Kevin (Heather) Watkins, sister, Charlotte (Ronnie) Bruce, five grandchildren, Mikayla Cantrell, Baillie Watkins, Addison Watkins, Nehemiah Watkins and Noah Watkins and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Macedonia (Wolf Creek) Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Lunsford and Rev. Tommy Hayes officiating. Music provided by Caleb Leaman and the Hayes Brothers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Joe Simmonds officiating. Pallbearers include Wayne Hicks, Glenn Sneed, Doug Sneed, Scott Graves, Jim Collis and Tim McArthur. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Bruce, Ronnie Bruce, Donald Curtis, Don Helton, Darrell Decker, Danny Carder, Jim Helton, WC King, members of the Wolf Creek Fire Department and his co-workers at AMR McMinn County.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, GA Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. You may send flowers or make a donation to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 40 Helton Rd, Murphy, NC 28906.
