Loving husband, father, and brother Terry Hubert Graves, 45, of the Culberson community, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.
He was a native of Murphy, North Carolina and he cared deeply about the town that he called home. He was involved with the Cub Scouts as an Assistant Den Leader of Pack 400, supported the Civil Air Patrol (CAPs), and he supported the Veterans of the community. Terry had worked as an electrician [although] he claimed he never worked a day in his life because he loved his profession. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and did everything he could to support the church and community that he took pride in.
Terry was the son of the late Hubert and Zenlee Patterson Graves. He is survived by his wife, Karen Graves; two daughters, Elizabeth Graves of the home, and Sarah Dockery of Knoxville, TN; a son, Andrew Graves of the home; a brother Jimmy Graves, and his wife Patty Graves of Peachtree; two nephews Perry Graves and his wife Alecia Graves of Hayesville, and Pastor Gerry Graves and his wife Wendy Graves of Marble; a niece Kristie Jones and husband Billy Jones of Blairsville, Ga; 20 great-nieces and nephews; 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew.
The family received friends and family on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 12-2 at Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy. Services followed at 2:00PM at Cochran's Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Derrberry and Pastor Gerry Graves officiating. Interment was held at Grape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery afterward. Perry Graves, Pastor Gerry Graves, Gavin Graves, Steve Johnson, Todd Raby Sr., and Paul Farmer were pallbearers.
