Terrell Jones

June 12, 1944 — June 16, 2013

Pastor Terrell William Jones, age 69, of Blairsville passed away Sunday Morning, June 16, 2013 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Terrell was born June 12, 1944 in Union County to the late Jewell and Cora (Murphy) Jones. Pastor Jones was a lifelong resident of Union County. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Jones, on December 24, 1964. In his earlier years, he never missed a Friday, going to Cooper's Creek and catching his limit in trout. But leaving the love of fishing for trout, he began focusing his life on a greater purpose: fishing for men. He faithfully accepted the call to preach in 1968 and served as the Pastor of Jones Creek Church of God for 44 years. He enjoyed collecting guns and bows and arrows. According to ones he worked with at Tennessee Chemical Company, he soon earned the name of “Quick Draw.” He was a perfectionist in all that he did. He enjoyed trading cars, and the red Corvette was his most favorite. Terrell knew the meaning of family and it's importance. Most of his time was invested into and enjoyed with his family. He also loved the time shared with his grandchildren target shooting.

Terrell will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: his wife of 48 1/2 years, Evelyn Kelley Jones, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Donald (who he called "son") Weaver of Blairsville, daughter, Jennifer Gentry and daughter, Kimberly Jones; and five grandchildren, Jaron Weaver, Megan Weaver, Samantha Gentry, Jenna Gentry and Justin Cantrell. He was a loving husband, father, and grand-father, and he spoiled them all.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 with Rev. Randolph Jones and Rev. Bill Brown officiating at Jones Creek Church of God. The eulogy will be given by Mrs. Opal Cook. Pastor Jones will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 1 until the service hour. Music will be provided by Casey Jones. Burial will be in Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 17th from 5 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Roger Kelley, Tracy Dockery, Rusty Fortenberry, Donald Weaver, Ranny Jones and Gary Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will include: Jaron Weaver, Justin Cantrell and Andy Stephens.
