Mrs. Sybil Smith, age 91, of Turtletown passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Stonehenge
Assisted Living in Blairsville, GA. Sybil was born July 12, 1925 in Fannin County, GA. to the late
Jasper Lawrence and the late Maggie Thomas Lawrence. She was a member of Mine City
Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William E.
Smith, infant son, William Stephen Smith, and sisters and their spouses: Tab and Hoyt Kincaid,
Iva Lee and Young Gilliam, Dorothy and David Livingstone, Toye and James Satterfield; her
brother and his wife: Gene and Eva Lawrence and brother-in-law Robert O'Kelly Wallace.
She is survived by one sister, Ebba Wallace of Massachusetts plus several nieces and
nephews.
Sybil loved being a wife and took great pleasure in caring for her husband during their entire
marriage. She was an excellent cook and excelled in any artistic endeavor she tried. She was
especially good at painting and ceramics.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Finch-
Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, GA.
