Susan Hallman Young of Blue Ridge, passed away on the evening of July 21st after a seven year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Young, children, Michael and his wife Sandra of Mt. Juliet , TN, Phillip of Palatka, FL, Cindy of Keystone Heights, FL and Roger of Orange Park, FL; 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 15 great- and step-great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and countless friends.
She was born in Rock Hill, SC and raised in Fort Mill, SC, where she met Frank and the two became High School sweethearts, marrying on April 25, 1953. Sue lived most of her adult life in Palatka, FL where she and Frank raised their four children. The couple moved to Blue Ridge permanently in 2004, where Sue was an active member of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church. She loved to create, and her quilts and afghans are legendary. She was also a member of the Get-in-Step Line Dancing troop, who perform at nursing homes and charitable events throughout Fannin and Gilmer counties. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church, on Main Street, at 11:00 am on Friday, July 25th with visitation from 10 to 11. Reverend Doug Burrell will be officiating.
