Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Steve Ray Dockery, age 55, of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Steve was born in Towns County, Georgia, on April 7, 1961, a son of Denver and Norma Owenby Dockery. He was a lifelong resident of this area, and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. Steve was a woodman, a lover of the outdoors, who enjoyed riding four-wheelers and motorcycles. He loved his family and he loved to help others- mowing grass and yardwork.
Steve will be greatly missed by his loving family members: parents, Denver and Norma Dockery, of Young Harris; four sisters: Laura Gail Allison, of Clayton, Georgia; Betty Queen and Patricia Barrett, both of Young Harris, and Deborah Kernea, of Blairsville; six brothers: Allen Dockery and Mark Dockery of Blairsville; Jerry Dockery, Stanley Dockery, Larry Dockery, all of Young Harris; and Keith Dockery, of Monroe, North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Steve have been scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. R.L. Martin officiating. Special music will be presented by Rachel and Vernon Barnes. The following gentlemen are honored to serve as pallbearers: Jerry Dockery, Stanley Dockery, Larry Dockery, Mark Dockery, Keith Dockery, and Franklin Bridges. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, from 7 until 9 p.m.
