Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Stephen G. George, age 55, of Blairsville, who passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at his home.
Steve was a 30 years Journeyman Lineman. He started his career with Pike Electric and worked with several other contractors before going to work with Blue Ridge Mountain EMC. An expert project starter, Steve always strived for perfection in his work. Steve loved to hunt, fish, hunting arrowheads, work with his tractor, loved his mountains and the beach and watching youth sports. Steve was dedicated to his family, a self-less and easy going man - the glue that held everything together. He had a big heart and will be remembered so lovingly by his family. Steve had a saying, "Don't rock the boat," and had a special laugh and smile that let you know that everything was going to be ok.
Steve is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sondra Mason George; Children: Chaiz and Jamie George; Chelsi George and Karl Gibbs; Grandson, Stephen Nash Everett George; Parents, Gerald and Lois George; Sisters and Brothers-in-laws, Debbie and Troy Hughes, Brenda and Gerald Nelson, Donna and Winston Pittman; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny George and Deborah Bowden.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., to be held at Providence United Methodist Church, with Dr. John Kay and Rev. Martin Loyley officiating. Matt Walls will have the eulogy. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Travis George officiating at the graveside. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Troy Hughes, Darren Hughes, Kenny George, Jeff Daniel, Jonah Daniel, and Josh Daniel. Asked to serve as honorary escort to the family are employees of Blue Ridge Mountain EMC. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, between the hours of 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
