Shirley Long McGinnis age 92 passed away peacefully on February 26. Born to Thomas and Essie Long on February 18, 1932 in Jacksonville, FL.
She attended Andrew Jackson High and met the love of her life Richard McGinnis and they shared an amazing marriage of 70 years together. Shirley and Richard raised their 3 children in the Atlanta areas of Belvedere and Avondale Estates. Later they enjoyed many years living in John's Creek and finally retired to their cabin in Blairsville Ga. Shirley was active in the Family Life Ministry at Decatur 1st Methodist, was a Girl Scout leader, and was active in the Garden Clubs and Book Clubs of all the neighborhoods she lived in. Shirley was also talented at the lost art of shorthand which made her the" go to" person for many branch managers at Bank South. She thoroughly loved her 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; all of them understood the Nana rule that you must try something 7 times before you can officially say you don't like it. She was a beautiful southern woman with class and elegance who enjoyed fashion and shoes!
She is survived by her husband Richard McGinnis, Doug (Teri) McGinnis, Cindy (John) Kirksey, Brad ( Teshia) McGinnis and grandchildren Erin, Kelly, Will, Allison, Richard, Molly, Quinn and Lydia.
