Shirley Anne Groves

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Shirley Anne Garner Groves, age 75, of Douglasville, Georgia, who passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

Ms. Groves was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 19, 1946, the daughter of the late Charles Gordon Garner, Jr. and Bertha Payne Garner. She worked at Georgia State University in the School of Management for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Garner.

She is survived by the following family members: son, James Edward Groves, Jr, of Douglasville, Georgia: daughter and her husband Jennifer and Matthew Hyndman, of Auburn, Maine: son, Jason Eric Groves, of Douglasville, Georgia: brother, Charles Paul Garner, of Woodstock, Georgia: Grandchildren: Dru Weld, of Newnan; Lindy Hyndman, of Auburn, Maine; Andru Hyndman, of Auburn, Maine; Hayden Groves. One great grandchild and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home- Blairsville. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are James Groves, Jason Groves, Matt Hyndman, Andru Hyndman, and Ethan Tardif.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 28, 2022, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
