Mrs. Sheila Lavon Thomas, age 77 of Morganton, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Piedmont Mountain Side Hospital. Mrs. Thomas was born November 19, 1937 in Mineral Bluff, GA to the late William Howard Ballew and the late Tennie Nichols Ballew. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Mineral Bluff Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist, and sang. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Sheila was a member of the Morganton Chapter 394 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Thomas owned and operated her own beauty shop, and also taught cosmetology.
Survivors include: husband, Ulas Thomas, son, Bill (Lisa) Thomas, daughter, Deleta (Ron) Lingerfelt, son, Scott (Tessa) Thomas, brothers, Bob (Voncil) Ballew and Rick (Partrece) Ballew, grandchildren, Justin (Kristen) Thomas, Brian Lingerfelt, Cameron Thomas, Bryson Thomas, Branden Thomas, Evan (Nikki) Thomas, special friends, Angie Newton and Rhonda Calhoun.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sheila Thomas will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm, at the Mineral Bluff Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Hughes, and Dr. Scott Thomas officiating. Music provided by: A.C. Caylor Family. Interment will follow in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Gene Barns, Greg Nazerine, W.C. Collins, Jack Gibson and Jimmy Hopkins.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, on Monday, August 10, 2015, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
