Sharon Sackett

December 19, 1944 — June 22, 2013

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Sharon Kay Sackett, age 68, of Blairsville who passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013.

Mrs. Sackett was born in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma on December 19, 1944 to the late James "Jim" Bambeck & Eileen Huffman Bambeck. She was raised in Dover, Ohio in a turn of the century school house. After graduation from Dover High School in 1962 she was married to Marvin Sackett. Sharon always had an interest in the communities where she lived and strived to be involved and lend a hand. She was active in the Jaycees in Akron, Ohio and also in Mooresville, North Carolina when she moved there in 1973. Sharon started working at a McDonalds in Statesville and with determination and drive quickly progressed to Head Manager in Mooresville. Her keen sense of business and pleasant nature was noticed by her superiors, who encouraged her to pursue owning and operating her own franchise. Eventually, Sharon was offered multiple options for franchise locations and she chose to operate in Blairsville (later expanding to Murphy & Andrews) because of the people and small-town atmosphere. Sharon Sackett was 1 of 60 women in the country to own a McDonald's franchise- 1 of only 2 in the state of Georgia. With an innate trait of leadership she believed in her employees and invested her energy mentoring and helping them reach their full potential. Her positive outlook on life and friendly disposition is well known within the community. Even after 2 courageous battles against cancer she continued to laugh, smile and plant seeds into the lives of others. Striking balance amidst her professional life may have been difficult, but Sharon made it clear that family was her first priority. Business conventions became fun-filled family vacations, Family meals became experiments in world cuisine and couches quickly turned into battle forts for her, her children and her grandchildren that she so loved and adored.

Sharon will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: son & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Cindy Sackett; daughter & son-in-law, Kelly & Andy Pyle; daughter & son-in-law, Denise & Doug Adams and brothers & sisters-in-law, Jack & Cathy Bambeck and Mack & Kay Bambeck. Her grandchildren, Zack, Jonathan, Seth, Stephen, Drew, Carter, Emily, Matthew, Adelia and Nathan will also cherish memories made and share in her legacy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Frank Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m and again on Wednesday from 1 p.m until the service hour.
