Sarah Genevieve "Genny" Grodzzzicki (Haren)

Mrs. Sarah Genevieve "Genny" Haren Richardson Grodzicki died on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Hope Hospice, Joanne's House, Bonita Springs, Florida after a brief illness, at the age of 85.
Genny is survived by two sister, Mary Ruth Haren Harris, and Betty Haren Durham(Joe); nieces, Mary Ellen Alexander and Jill Woods (Rob); nephews, Richard Alexander, Robert Alexander, Russ Durham (Monica), Jay Durham (Lee), Grady Haren, Keith Haren, and Rees Haren (Beth). She is also, survived by step children, Lynn Siegred, Gary Grodzicka, Gary Grodzicki, Gayle Taylor, and Sally Aldorfer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie Dunn and Bass Haren of Epworth Georgia; her brothers, Delton J. Haren, Grady W. Haren, and Fred Haren; husbands, Earl D. Richardson of Miami, Florida and Erwin Grodzicki of Deland, Florida.
Genny was born on January 6, 1926 in Epworth, Georgia. She graduated from Epworth High School in 1943 and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Epworth. After finishing high school, Genny moved to Akron, Ohio, where she took a job as "Rosie the Riveter" making airplanes during World War II. When the war was over, she moved to Atlanta, working several years with Third Army, in East Point, Georgia. During this time, Genny, played semi-pro basketball in Atlanta with the Lorelei Ladies. In 1953, she moved back to Epworth, and worked in the family grocery store. Ginny always liked an adventure, so she moved to Miami, Florida in 1954. There she worked in Tax Accessor's Office in Coral Gables and later worked and retired from the Miami Herald Newspaper.
In 1990, she married the late Erwin Grodzicki and moved to Deland, Florida where she resided until March of 2011. She then moved to Bonita Springs, Florida and resided in the Emeritus Assisted Living Home.
Genny, enjoyed collecting; especially, clowns and perfume bottles.
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Epworth, Georgia on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. A time of visitation will be held after the service in the church fellowship hall.
