Mr. Samuel Louis Knowles, of Blairsville, passed away on December 22nd, 2022.
Mr. Knowles was born in Adairsville, GA on December 21st, 1935, a son of the late Alonzo Harbin Knowles and the late Bessie Lee Bragg Knowles. He grew up in Calhoun and Cartersville, GA and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953. Stationed in England, Louis met his wife Mavis, and upon their return, they eventually settled in the Tampa, Florida area. Louis was a machinist for the CSX Railroad. Louis was a self taught jack of all trades. He could fix your car and build your house. He was especially proud of the cabin on Fighting Town Creek, Blue Ridge that he built, which his family enjoys to this day. Louis enjoyed traveling with Mavis and square dancing. He loved his children and grandchildren.
Upon retirement, Louis moved to Blairsville and continued to travel and putter around, especially building porch swings to sell and give away. He was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
Louis is remembered by his daughters and son-in-laws; Gina and Mike Turner, Elizabeth and Wayne Fann; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Patricia Knowles. Sharing in his legacy are grandchildren: Jennifer (Steven), Sean (Sunny), Erika, Colin (Tiara), Sarah, and Rebecca; his great-grandchildren: Tristan, Manderly, Masen, Kipton, Gavin, Everette, Zarra, Huxley, and Harley.
