Sammy Johnson

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mr. Sammy Johnson, age 71, of Hiawassee, Georgia, who passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Sammy was a good man, father, husband & amazing grandfather. He was known as "Pee Wee" to some of his family and close friends. He saw value in hard work and earned everything he had by the sweat of his brow. Sammy spent several years working for Georgia Power Company. Starting as a Contractor Surveyor and then as a Supervisor for the Clearing Crews. He was even wanting to get back to work when the Lord called him home. Sammy was always ready to go fishing. He loved taking care of his chickens. If anyone wanted to know what the sirens were for, they called him. He always had his scanner on and next to him.

Sammy will be warmly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of 35 years, Margie Johnson; daughter & son-in-law, Angela & Bruce Hamilton; daughters, Jeanette Wade & Geraldine Davenport; brother & sister-in-law, Jimmy & Mary Johnson;and sister & brother-in-law, Lucy & Gordon Kirby. Also sharing in his legacy are 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 15 great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Ledford and Rev. Eddie Ramey officiating. Music will be presented by Jimmy & Johnny Hogsed. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as Pallbearers: Austin Keys, Josh Wade, Jesse Delong, Blake Parker, Clay Gibson & Jess Gibson, Jr.. Honorary Pallbearers will include Russ Watson, Cordelle Dye & Adam Shook.
