Mr. Samuel E. James, age 62 of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his home. Sam was born September 17, 1953 in Macon, GA to the late William Edward James Jr. and the late Matilda Roughton James. Sam moved to Blairsville in 1979. He was a former Camp Director for the YMCA at Camp Pioneer. After becoming a licensed CPA, Sam began practicing in Blairsville in 1986 where he provided accounting services to the community until his retirement in 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Dyer James, daughter, Dana Leigh (Ryan) Garrett of Blairsville, sister, Tawn (Steve) Huff of Macon, sister, Sara (Gene) James of Sulphur Springs, TX, and grandchildren, Mackenzie Leigh James, Samuel Ethan James, and Bralyn Mae Garrett.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:30 pm at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Dick Stillwell and Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Jeff Knight. Interment will follow in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are nephews: Jason Dyer, Jason Peacock, Matthew Girardot, Nicholas Dyer, Le Dyer, and Anthony Monkus.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville Friday, April 29, 2016, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
Flowers are welcomed, however, if you choose, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Choestoe Baptist Church Building Fund, 46 Choestoe Church Road, Blairsville, GA 30512.
