Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Youngblood Stamey, age 82, of Hiawassee, who passed away Wednesday evening at her home following an illness.
Mrs. Stamey was a native of Towns County, Georgia, and was born on June 4, 1930, a daughter of the late Pengry Youngblood and the late Verna Wood Youngblood. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she had been preceded in death by her husband, Grady Stamey; a son, Robert Neal Stamey; and a brother, William Hubert Youngblood.
Mrs. Stamey is survived by her loving family members: Daughter, Jimmie L. Barrett of Lithonia, Georgia; brothers: James B. Youngblood and Ray E. Youngblood, both of Moline, Illinois; Owen Youngblood, of Hiawassee; Lawton Youngblood, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Gene Youngblood, of Hiawassee; sisters: Della Mae Dearing and Barbara W. Hyatt, both of Hiawassee; grandchildren: Neal Stamey, Josh Stamey, Brad Barrett, and Britt Barrett; great grandchildren: Buck Barrett, Madeline Stamey, and Caroline Stamey. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday, November 11, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church, with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. Mrs. Stamey will be laid to rest next to her husband Grady, in Osborn Cemetery in Hiawassee. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Saturday evening, November 10, 2012, between the hours of 6 until 9 p.m.
